2004 Regional Championship

(Press Release)

Pittsburgh was a dominating presence in Warren, Ohio this past Saturday July 24, 2004 taking first and third in the Northeast Regional Finals. Teams from Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan attended the tournament to determine the best team in the Northeast Region. The top team was "Blood Dumpster", consisting of 5 players from all around the Pittsburgh area. During the round robin series to determine the order of the playoff bracket, team "Steel City’s Finest" went undefeated, and "Blood Dumpster" had two losses. Several other teams participated including one Michigan team and another Pittsburgh team called "Gemini".

It could have been anybody’s tournament, with the top Ohio team "Oblivion" beating "Steel City’s Finest" by only 2 points, and then "Blood Dumpster" beating "Oblivion" by 5 for first place. The long anticipated Regional Finals are now over and Pittsburgh is still #1.

Now that the Regional Finals are over, nothing is left but the National Tournament. The representative Pittsburgh team left today, July 28th, for Lake Worth, FL. The tournament will begin on August 2nd at the Fun Depot, a large family entertainment facility in the heart of Lake Worth. Lasting for 5 days, the tournament will consist of a Top Gun challenge, seeding rounds, and a double elimination final bracket. Since last year our team placed 2nd overall with almost no practice prior to the tournament, there is a very, very good chance that we’ll bring home gold this time.
